Bug Bounty

Welcome to EarthPol's Bug Bounty page. Thank you for helping keep the server fun, fair, and stable. This page explains our three bug tiers, what types of rewards we offer, and how to submit a report so it can be triaged and resolved quickly.

Bug Tiers

We group bugs into three tiers. Use these definitions to help classify your report, but final tiering is determined by staff during triage.

Tier 1 — Regular bug

What it is: Minor issues that are unpleasant or annoying to encounter but are easy to fix. Examples:

  • Minor UI typos
  • Cosmetic glitches
  • Small item description errors
  • Minor plugin warning messages that do not affect gameplay

Impact: Low. Does not break functionality or cause player loss.

Tier 2 — Problem bug

What it is: Bugs that break significant functionality, cause unnecessary stress or harm, or produce measurable unfairness. Examples:

  • Economy exploits that allow duplication of currency
  • Towny or nation features failing in a way that causes loss of player resources
  • PvP or combat mechanics broken in a way that gives players an unfair advantage
  • Persistent data corruption affecting multiple players

Impact: Medium to high. Gameplay is degraded or players can suffer loss.

Tier 3 — Game breaking bug

What it is: Critical vulnerabilities or disaster-class bugs that threaten server integrity, data safety, or allow mass abuse. Examples:

  • Critical remote code or permission exploit
  • Severe duplication or deletion exploit affecting many players
  • Vulnerability that allows arbitrary teleportation to other players or restricted areas
  • Anything that could lead to major data loss or server compromise

Impact: Severe. Immediate high-priority response required.

General Reward Notes

  • Tier 2 and Tier 3 reports may receive one-of-a-kind awards. These awards are unique and non-transferable unless explicitly stated.
  • Staff retains final authority on tier assignment and reward selection.
  • We reserve the right to withhold awards if the report is later found to be malicious or false.
  • Rewards are given to verified reporters only.

What Happens Next

  • Staff will triage your report, confirm reproduction, and assign a tier.
  • If staff needs more information, they will ask in the report thread or via DM.
  • Resolved reports are credited publicly when appropriate. Provide rewards.

Eligibility and Rules

  • Only genuine bug reports are eligible. Misleading, malicious, or intentionally destructive reports will be disqualified.
  • Exploiters who publicly abuse a bug to gain advantage may be punished and are ineligible for rewards related to that exploit.
  • Staff decisions about tiers and awards are final.
  • Bugs in Minecraft do not count. Report those to Mojang.

Examples

  • Tier 1 example: A GUI button shows the wrong label.
  • Tier 2 example: A marketplace command crashes and causes lost items.
  • Tier 3 example: A permission bug that allows non-staff to use rollback commands.

Contact

If you have questions about an award or dispute a tiering decision, contact a staff manager in Discord or open a ticket. Staff will review and provide a resolution.

Thank you for helping keep EarthPol stable, fair, and fun. We appreciate your time and careful reports.
